This research paper intends to critically review the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a multidisciplinary catalyst for the attainment of the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The impact of AI today is not just limited to the technological aspect but is broadly changing research, higher education and the whole social ecosystem. AI not only allows individualized instruction and fast assessment, but it also frees teachers from administrative tasks so they can focus on quality teaching. In addition, AI in science and data analysis is giving people new skills for the future and speeding up the pace of knowledge creation. However, the paper also points out that the unregulated use of artificial intelligence, despite its technological advantages, could exacerbate existing social inequalities. The big challenges are algorithmic bias, serious concerns around data privacy, infrastructural gaps and the rapidly growing digital divide. Moreover, increasing use of AI without an appropriate ethical framework can threaten human rights and social justice. In the end, the advantages of artificial intelligence can only be fully achieved if technological innovation is combined with a Human-Centered approach, rather than substituting for human teachers or human judgment. The report also highlights that the value of AI for sustainable development lies not only in technological efficiency but also in how it is developed and used in a human-centred, ethical, inclusive and environmentally sustainable way. Therefore, to be an effective tool for sustainable development, Artificial Intelligence requires the promotion of collaboration across disciplines of knowledge, online literacy and responsible innovation, as well as clear ethical and policy frameworks. Only in this way can we ensure that AI is used not just to serve the demands of the market, but to make a meaningful contribution to inclusive and sustainable human development.
